Privacy

This is a short summary while the full privacy policy is finalized. Karma uses privacy-friendly analytics, and Meta (Facebook) advertising and conversion tracking, all of which run only after you accept, and we do not sell personal data.

The Reddit data we use

For product data we work with public Reddit data: public posts, comments, profiles and community pages, read through a third party data provider. We do not read private messages, and we never ask for or hold your Reddit password.

The Karma browser extension

If you install the Karma browser extension, it runs only when you press the control on your Karma dashboard, never on its own, and it never posts, votes or changes anything on Reddit. When you press the control it opens your own Reddit profile page in a tab and reads that page while you are signed in.

What it can see while it runs is your own profile listing, which shows every post you have ever made on Reddit. What it sends to Karma is only the posts you handed in to Karma and that Karma asked it about, by post id: the views figure Reddit shows you for each, any notice that the post was removed and by whom, and the score and comment count shown on the post. It sends nothing about any other post on the page and nothing about other people. The result is saved to your Karma account and shown to you and to the brand whose brief the post answers. Its views reading is what confirms the post for payment at day 14; the amount you are paid was fixed when the post was approved and does not change with it. The extension stores nothing on your computer and sends nothing anywhere else. You can uninstall it at any time; to delete figures already saved, contact us.

When you ask for it, the extension also reads your own comments page the same way it reads your posts. What it sends to Karma is only the comments you handed in to Karma and that Karma asked it about, by comment id: the score Reddit shows on each, the views figure Reddit shows you for it, and any notice that the comment was removed. It sends nothing about any other comment on the page and nothing about other people. The result is saved to your Karma account and shown to you and to the brand whose brief the comment answers. Its views reading is what confirms the comment for payment at day 14; the amount you are paid was fixed when the comment was approved and does not change with it.

When you ask for it, the extension can also read your latest 100 posts across all your communities, not only the ones you handed in to Karma: for each, the community it is in, when you posted it, and its score. It sends those figures to Karma, which turns them into a summary of where you take part and how regularly, shown to a brand once you have started a draft on their brief so they can see you are a real participant. It reads your posts only, not your comments, and only your latest 100 posts; it never sends the posts themselves, only the figures the summary is built from. The summary is saved to your Karma account, and it never changes what you are paid.

To confirm your Reddit account is yours, the extension also reads your public profile bio to find the one-time code Karma gave you, and sends that bio text to Karma. If you verify with a screenshot of your profile instead, Karma stores the image privately and reads your username and bio off it with an AI model, and the Karma team may look at it if that reading is unclear. Once your account is verified you can remove the code from your bio.

Draft summary. The full, legally reviewed privacy policy is published before launch.
